Printing Courses and Tests

When viewing courses and tests, you will see a link under "Tools" for printing the page. This link is a shortcut that launches your web browser's printer window.

We've learned that some people who use Internet Explorer 8 or who have web browser add-on programs find that only the first page of the course or test is printed when using the link under the Tools menu.

If you have trouble printing a course or test, please use your web browser's "Print" function (commonly found under the browser File menu), rather than the "Tools" shortcut link at the top of the page.

Tips for Printing Your Certificate

Printing at a high quality or normal setting (rather than "fast" or "draft") and using good quality paper will produce a sharper-looking certificate. You can print the certificate in color or in black and white.

The certificate will print best if your browser print margins are set to .5 inches for the top and bottom margins, and .75 inches (or .80 in Firefox) for the left and right margins.

Please note: The Wild Iris logo and authorization signatures are images. Check that these images display before printing your certificate. If you have turned off the automatic download of images when viewing webpages, or turned off "background printing" of webpages, you will need to change these settings before printing your certificate. The top section above your certificate and the blue background surrounding your certificate will not appear when you print your certificate even if you have "background printing" turned on.

How to suppress headers and footers

Most web browsers add headers and footers to a web page when it is printed (for example, date, website address, etc.). Suppress these headers and footers when you print your certificate.

Instructions for INTERNET EXPLORER

View your certificate, and before printing:

  1. Select File -> Page Setup from browser menu.
  2. When the Page Setup dialog box appears, delete all the text that appears in the Header and Footer fields.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Select Print to print your certificate.

Instructions for FIREFOX

View your certificate, and before printing:

  1. Select File -> Page Setup from browser menu.
  2. When the Page Setup dialog box appears:

  3. Under Format & Options:
  4. Set the Orientation to Portrait
  5. Ensure that the "Print Background (colors & images) box is checked. If the box is left unchecked, Firefox will print text in place of the Wild Iris logo and authorization signature, resulting in a less-pleasing certificate.

  6. Under "Margins & Header/Footer:
  7. Set each drop-down selection field under Headers & Footers to "blank".
  8. Click OK.
  9. Select Print to print your certificate.

Other Browsers

Internet Explorer and Firefox are the most commonly used browsers. Due to the variety of web browsers available, we are unable to provide specific instructions for all of them. Please consult your browser's Help documentation for information about Page Setup for Printing if you have trouble. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

My certificate printed on 2 pages. What's wrong?

The certificate is designed to print on 1 page using the default font size for your web browser. If you have increased the default font size for reading onscreen, the larger font may increase the font on the certificate and push the certificate to 2 pages. You will need to temporarily change the font size back to the default setting before printing your certificate.

In addition, some printers may be set to add more margin to printed documents than the certificate is designed for. The certificate prints best when the print margins are set to 0.5 inches for the top and bottom margins and 0.75 inches (or 0.80 in Firefox) for the left and right margins.

My printer isn't working right now. How can I get my certificate?

When you complete your registration, a link to your certificate is provided so you can print your certificate immediately. Your transaction number and Certificate Web Address are also displayed and a confirmation e-mail is sent automatically to your e-mail address.

If you are unable to print your certificate immediately, you can use the Certificate Web Address or link in your confirmation e-mail to view and print your certificate at a later time when you are online and have access to a working printer.
